KINO ON VIDEO TO RELEASE AN UNPRECEDENTED BOX SET COMPILING SIX FEATURE FILMS STARRING HOLLYWOOD LEGEND DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS.

Douglas Fairbanks Collection DVD

Kino on Video is proud to announce the release of an unprecedented box set compiling six feature films from the greatest swashbuckler in the history of American entertainment. THE DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS COLLECTION brings for the first time on DVD THE THIEF OF BAGDAD, directed by Raoul Walsh (REGENARATION, WHITE HEAT) and starring Douglas Fairbanks-who also co-wrote the screenplay-and Anna May Wong (PETER PAN, SHANGHAI EXPRESS). This newly remastered version of THE THIEF OF BAGDAD comes with a brand-new score by the Mont Alto Motion Picture Orchestra and never-before-seen 19 minutes of outtake footage.

Douglas Fairbanks' ROBIN HOOD has also been remastered from a 35mm Archive Negative specially for this release; its brand new DVD comes with new special features and previously unseen outtakes. THE DOUGLAS FAIRBANKS COLLECTION will be available for prebooking on January 6th, 2004 with a SRP of $99.95 - each disk will be available separately for $29.95. The collection streets on February 3rd, 2004.

Completing this five-DVD box set are the previously available DVDs of THE BLACK PIRATE, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, adapted from the classic Alexandre Dumas' novel, and the double-feature disk which combines THE MARK OF ZORRO and DON Q: SON OF ZORRO in one DVD-which also brings rare Home Movie footage and an introduction by cinema legend Orson Welles.

Douglas Fairbanks made his Broadway debut in 1902 with the play "HER LORD AND MASTER." Moving to Hollywood in 1915, Fairbanks worked with D. W. Griffith and quickly established his career with early hits like "The Habit of Happiness" (1915), and "American Aristocracy" (1916). One of the co-founders of legendary film company United Artists (with Griffith, Chaplin and Pickford), Fairbanks went on to appear in his most famous roles (Zorro, Robin Hood) in the 1920s, only then transforming his screen persona from first-degree movie star to full fledge world-cinema icon.

THE THIEF OF BAGDADThief of Bagdad

A spectacular accomplishment in production design and special effects, Raoul Walsh's The Thief of Bagdad is a bold Arabian adventure starring Douglas Fairbanks as a carefree pickpocket who turns his mischievous thievery toward the attainment of happiness... and an exotic Princess (Julanne Johnston). In a quest for treasure that grows more fantastic with every passing thrill, the thief rises high above the city on a magic carpet, battles a fire-breathing dragon in caverns of flame and soars into the clouds on the back of a winged steed via innovative special effects.

This special Kino on Video DVD is the definitive edition of Fairbanks's classic, digitally mastered from a 35mm archive negative, with 19 minutes of rare outtakes and special effects footage.
