Dir.
Herbert Brenon U.S. 1924
102 min. Color-tinted B&W. (no soundtrack)
Kino proudly presents Paramount studios' memorable 1924 production of
Peter Pan, fully restored from original nitrate materials, with authentic
color tints and a new musical score.
Betty Bronson, a relatively inexperienced teenage actress, was called
the "find of the year" by The New York Times and, according to film historian
William K. Everson, "gives a radiant performance...brilliantly capturing
every nuance of the story." Herbert Brenon (Beau Geste) directed, James
Wong Howe (The Thin Man) was cinematographer, Ernest Torrence (Tol'able
David) made a gorgeously robust Captain Hook and Anna May Wong was Tiger
Lilly. This 1924 film of James M. Barrie's timeless play retains all its
period charm.
