G.W. Past's DIARY OF A LOST GIRL is a 35 mm print struck from a negative
recently restored by the Cineteca di Bologna in Italy. This restoration
adds back to the G.W. Pabst masterwork at least ten minutes of footage
that has most likely never been seen in the U.S. and until recently only
rarely in Europe as well.
Brooks plays an innocent young girl corrupted by the sexual hypocrisy
of respectable society. Louise plays a teenager who is seduced by her
fatheršs assistant, sent to reform school and after a succession of failed
relationships, finds herself in a brothel. For the first time, she finds
freedom and happiness. Brooks is absolutely radiant as a woman who achieves
liberation through learning to enjoy and exploit her sexuality.
Available in 35mm & 16mm
