Pema is Tinle's daughter in law and Passang's mother, who musters courage for her family after the devastating loss of her husband, the future chief. Lhapka Tsamchoe was brought up in the South of India by exile parents and did not know her native country. However, she was brought up with the stories told by her parents who owned yaks in the past and were merchants. Fiercely determined and ecstatic about Tibet and its traditions, She quickly adopted to the Dolpopas way of life.
